George eventually worked his way into the kitchen. He found his calling and left Victor's to pursue a degree in the Culinary Arts at the Yorktowne Business Institute. While going to school he trained at several restaurants. George then acquired an internship with Disney World's Wilderness Lodge, Artists Point restaurant. After completing his internship, he was hired on as Advanced Culinary. George later aquried a position as the Chef Tournade at Founder's Inn, Swan Terrace Restaurant, Virginia Beach, Va. He also worked for Wickey's in their off site commissary. Most recently employed as the Executive Chef at the The White Rose, George developed their new kitchen and their menu. Since George Sheffer has joined our team in November of 2008, we have received "One of the Best of York County" for Italian Restaurants 2009 and 2010 as well as receiving a second award this year for "One of the Best of York County" for Fine Dining 2010. A Brief History of Victor'sIn 1860, the Green Hill Evangelical Association was formed. Located adjacent to the Green Hill cemetery, in 1895 a piece of land donated by Michael Shellenberger became the current location of the building you are dining in now. While the cornerstone on Victor's reads 1923, it is believed that date relates to the bell tower which was erected but was never operational. In May of 1984, Eunice and Harold Fitzkee purchased the building and created Victor's Italian Restaurant. A fire severely damaged the interior of Victor's on April 8, 2001. Through concerted efforts of its owners, many of its employees and the loyal patrons, remodeling lasted 4 months and Victor's reopened for business on July 9, 2001. In late January of 2007 the restaurant was sold. The current proprietors Mark and Marie Sindicich and Sam and Ann Marie Yost continue to run Victor's Italian Restaurant you now know.
